John & Kate Bonner, Scottsdale

John and Kate in their senior years

My paternal grandmother’s grandparents were Ebeneezer John Bonner (1858-1938) and Catherine Marriott Watson (1851-1943). Above is a photograph of John and Kate at Scottsdale, Tasmania.

In turn, Kate was the daughter of Brereton Ross Porter Pemberton Rolla Watson and the great granddaughter of First Fleet convict Richard Morgan.

Our family line have been in Tasmania since settlement and have played important roles in the development of the East and North East. A lot of family settled around Scottsdale and Ringarooma.

John died at Bridport in 1938 and Kate died at Scottsdale in 1943.
